Fellowship Health Resources holds four-day intensive course for employees
Lincoln, RI – Fellowship Health Resources’ (FHR) staff members from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Maine joined at the organization’s corporate office for a four-day extensive Training of Trainers. Led by FHR Senior Director of Professional Development and Operations Nancy Murray, Cape Cod and Islands Regional Director Michael Pacheco, and Director of Peer Recovery Services Bob Rousseau, Training of Trainers focused on strengthening skills needed to facilitate staff trainings at FHR.
“The main goal of this week is for our organization to acquire a group of staff trainers who are prepared to professionally conduct trainings for FHR in a consistent and unified manner,” said Murray. “All staff in attendance will be prepared to present material to other staff members so that they are engaged in the learning process.”
Participants specifically concentrated on adult learning approaches, ice breakers, and dealing with differences through various methods including lectures, group exercises, and interactive presentations. Those who successfully completed the course received 24 credit hours and a certificate of achievement.
This comprehensive training also included an overview of the PRISMMODEL ® for the Effective Treatment of Serious and Persistent Mental Illness, FHR’s creative arts program Studio 35, Wellness Recovery Action Planning, and Whole Health Action Management, as well as in-depth lessons on the importance of customer service.
FHR Peer Support Worker Robert Ortiz commented that what made this particular training so valuable was that those participating ranged from direct care staff to administration. “Our diversity and skillsets helped us come together to share information that related to each training audience,” he shared. “This really helped in learning about a unique customer service component.”
A Training of Trainers for staff in Delaware, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia will take place in Delaware October 27 – 30.
