FHR North Carolina Gives Back During the Holidays

Published 12/10/2015

“The holidays are a time for giving and we try to teach that to our members,” explained Program Director Dana Barnes. During the months of November and December, FHR’s programs in North Carolina take part in an array of activities and projects to give back to those in need in the community. These activities include a hat, glove, and sock drive, as well as serving a hot meal while singing Christmas Carols to the homeless population at Cornerstone Center.

Another favorite activity part of North Carolina’s ‘Give Back Series’ is volunteering at the Salvation Army Toy Shop. This year, Drop-In Center members were tasked with sorting children’s stockings and filling boxes for Wake County families in need. “We were able to help with several hundred boxes, and upon leaving, several members mentioned how good it felt to give back, especially during this time of year,” added FHR’s Jason Hinshaw.
