Homemade pickles and outdoor games were highlights of FHR’s annual “Camp Day” this year
Eddington, ME – September 18, 2012 - Staff members and residents from both Ralph Street and Broadway gathered together for FHR Maine’s annual “Camp Day” at Walton’s Campground this year.
A scavenger hunt, cribbage tournament, and horseshoe tournament were just some of the activities planned for the day. “It was great to have all staff participating and relaxing at Camp Day with the consumers,” says Mental Health Assistant Jordin Lombardo. “Day Program Coordinator Sherri Grant did an excellent job of organizing activities. It was my first Camp Day experience, and I thought it was a lot of fun!”
Members and staff had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the campsite. One of the highlights was enjoying homemade pickles that residents and staff made together the previous week.
“There was truly some excitement in the air while we were making the pickles,” explains Grant. “I could feel the sense of satisfaction in participants knowing that the pickles would be for Camp Day. It made this project special. Then, everyone who ate them at Camp Day said that they thoroughly enjoyed them.”
FHR Maine has organized Camp Day for members for the past three years. For more information about this event, or other Day Program activities, please contact Sherri Grant at 207-947-9630.
