Open House provides opportunity for FHR members to explore Studio 35
Fall River, MA – May 17, 2012 – Members of Fellowship Health Resources, Inc. (FHR) created, crafted, and crocheted at an Open House in the brand new Studio 35 space at Harbor Hill on May 16.
“We’ve been looking for space to designate as our official Studio 35 area in Fall River,” says Rehab and Recovery Group Coordinator Terri Bernier. “The common area on the second floor of Harbor Hill hasn’t really been used too often in the past, so we decided to make this room the Studio 35 space.”
The Open House provided an opportunity for individuals to explore everything that Studio 35 has to offer in Fall River. “Studio 35 allows staff and persons served to express themselves,” says Certified Peer Specialist Lisa Boulanger. “Music was my escape during my own recovery, but Studio 35 can be anything that you want it to be. The sky really is the limit.”
Staff members explain that opening this space would not be possible without the Community Impact Grant that they received from the United Way of Greater Fall River. “We have instruments, art supplies, writing materials, jewelry beads, crochet needles, and more,” says Bernier. “There’s something for everyone.”
Anna, who enjoys crocheting, set up an area at the Open House to display her work and to share this hobby with her peers. “It gives me something to do,” says Anna. “I like showing people what I made and others can learn to make things too.”
Studio 35 classes will continue in this space on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. “The supplies will always be here,” says Bernier. “We’re setting up specific times for persons served to work with staff, but if someone wants to just come and draw or write or paint, they can. The doors are always open.”
