Fall River, MA – March 9, 2012 – Fellowship Health Resources (FHR) held a “Meet the Board Luncheon” in the Fall River Region on Monday, March 5. Board Chairperson Bill Emmet and FHR President/CEO Joe Dziobek participated in this discussion with persons served and employees from Fall River, New Bedford, and Cape Cod Regions.

“Bill Emmet spoke about the role of the Board and its strategic planning process,” explained Fall River Regional Director Denise Silvia. “He asked staff what their everyday life was like, what their challenges were, and what they thought could be added to improve their service.” Both staff and persons served were very appreciative and have shown interest in further “Meet the Board Luncheons."

“Meetings such as this are very valuable for the Board as well,” explained Emmet. “It’s important to see the programs in action and to have the chance to speak with staff about their hopes and desires for FHR.”

During this question and answer session, both persons served and staff were able to bring up concerns, questions, and new, exciting ideas. One item expressed was continued rehabilitative services after discharge. “Persons served and employees expressed an interest in having support and services available after persons served rehab goals have been met,” described Silvia. Emmet and Dziobek were favorable to this idea and suggested focus groups with employees to discuss it further.

“We talked about forming what we like to call ‘quality circles’ or empowerment groups to gather a variety of opinions from multiple levels of staffing,” says Dziobek. “We hope that this is something that we can look into again, not only on this topic, but for many other topics as well, in the near future.”
