Shape Up with FHR starts up strong with over 160 participants

Lincoln, RI – February 22, 2012 – As part of the Shape Up RI effort, Fellowship Health Resources, Inc. (FHR) is sponsoring its first ever agency-wide 12-week fitness and healthy eating program for both employees and persons served. This program, called Shape Up with FHR, kicked off on Monday, February 13.

FHR President/CEO Joe Dziobek is excited to offer this program to employees as well as persons served. “Shape Up with FHR presents a fun, team-oriented way of staying motivated and on track with your personal fitness goals,” says Dziobek. FHR is graciously covering the cost of individual registration, as well as the walking pedometer.

Benefits Administrator Jenn McKenna anticipates a successful program as part of this year’s Health and Wellness initiative. “It has always been FHR’s desire to go agency-wide with this type of program. Last year, we piloted a program in Rhode Island, which allowed us to gauge the interest level from employees and persons served,” says McKenna. “The difference this year is that we are offering the fitness challenge to FHR members from Maine to North Carolina.”

McKenna is excited about how many participants are involved in the program. “Team captains are extremely enthusiastic, as well as FHR employees and persons served. Everyone definitely has their game faces on,” says McKenna.

Participants can visit www.shapeupri.org to find helpful fitness tips and to engage in interactive web-based challenges, which allow for support and camaraderie within teams. Participants track their weekly progress on the website’s personal profile page. In addition, the website posts team standings weekly to demonstrate how FHR’s teams compare to those of other participating companies in Rhode Island.

FHR has over 160 FHR participants, with teams ranging from 5 to 11 members, each striving to complete tasks in four categories: amount of pedometer steps, total exercise, total weight loss, and healthy eating.

FHR will award the top four employees and top four persons served from every category with a Shape Up t-shirt and enter them into a raffle for a chance to win a $100 Target gift card. The seven top performers not selected in the raffle will still go home with a $25 Target gift card for their hard work during Shape Up with FHR.
