New mental health web-based application launches in Pennsylvania
Phoenixville, PA – June 13, 2011 – Consumers, family, and friends had the chance to experiment on a new web-based application that empowers individuals to participate in shared decision-making with their psychiatrists at Fellowship Health Resources, Inc. (FHR).
Community Care Behavioral Health (CCBH) selected Fellowship Health Resources, Inc. at 723 Wheatland Street in Phoenixville and provided the funds to pilot the use of the CommonGround web-based program in an Outpatient Clinic setting in Chester County. PA Regional Director Janet Stanley described the emphasis on shared decision-making as an important step in an individual’s recovery.
“Before using CommonGround, consumers would set up a 15-minute appointment with their psychiatrist,” Stanley said. “Now they will have an expanded medication appointment and complete their own online health report prior to their medication appointments. The tool assists them in completing their own health report by answering questions to assist shared decisions about their treatment and recovery.”
Stanley said that Director of Outpatient Services, Arlene Schofield, is very eager to get this program up and running. The Open House that occurred on June 8 gave consumers the chance to try out the program on one of the four new computers in the new Decision Support Center.
“There are two touch screen computers and two regular computers. It was fabulous! People could jump online and see what it’s like to use the CommonGround software,” Stanley said.
