The Greater New Bedford Community Health Center helps keep persons served healthy at FHR

New Bedford, MA – October 5, 2012 – When members from the community step in to make a difference at FHR (Fellowship Health Resources), persons served and staff say that they appreciate these acts of kindness beyond what words can tell.

Sharon Shustack, a Registered Nurse from the Greater New Bedford Community Health Center, paid a visit to one of FHR New Bedford’s programs to host a free flu clinic for persons served.

“Sharon gave 25 flu shots in two hours,” says Rehab and Recovery Group Program Coordinator Jennifer Lima. “Mary Lou Rossi, RN from New Bedford’s South Team, also assisted Sharon with the entire process. We couldn’t do our jobs without the help of Mary Lou.”

The seasonal flu vaccine protects against three influenza viruses that research indicates will be most common during the upcoming season. “This partnership brings the vaccines and nursing staff right into our program, giving persons served easy access to different means of staying healthy,” Lima explains. “We’re very grateful to have continuous support from the community.”
