A Message from Alan Wichlei, FHR Board Chair, and Debra M. Paul, FHR Chief Executive Officer
We are writing to reaffirm the commitment of all of us at FHR to diversity, inclusion, and the fight against racism in our society.
As you well know, we face two major challenges today. The first is the COVID-19 pandemic. This arose suddenly this year, though not without warning. In response, we have come together with camaraderie and compassion, embodying the spirit of our PRISMModel® of care. More recently, a domestic epidemic of racial discrimination, hatred, and violence has emerged from the shadows. This has been with us since our nation's founding, shape-shifting over the years in spite of real and apparent progress, living largely out of sight of many while an ever-present and painful reality for others.
In response, we begin by stating FHR has been and always will be committed to creating a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, capability, or socioeconomic status. We will continue to promote a culture where all employees can bring their whole authentic selves to work each day, to share their diverse perspectives, achieve their best work, and fulfill the FHR mission. As a united team, we focus on each person and build on their strengths. We intend to live out this mission with each other as well as with the individuals in our care.
For over 45 years, FHR has been devoted to working with and supporting some of the most marginalized individuals in our communities. With your help, we will continue to do so. As we take deliberate next steps, you will be informed about how you can contribute to and be an important part of this ongoing conversation. We recognize that there is work to do and we look forward to doing it with you, providing high-quality care and services, and making FHR an employer of choice for all.
